TEDxMagdeburg 2018 - Each One Teach One

The motto

Johanna Daher

25 years old, editor/journalist

Outlook on the talk: „The talk takes up the life of a journalist, in which one has to deal with accusations such as “the press of lies” or “FakeNews”. In order to create a dialogue between media makers and recipients at eye level again, I founded the “Journarrator” project with a look behind the scenes. The aim of the project is to make the work of journalists more transparent for users, so that they understand why it was reported in this way, what problems there were and that a dialogue at eye level without insults is possible again.”

About the person: „My typical sentence in the social networks, which describes me quite well:
Christian, journalist and optimist with a love for multimedia, interactives and programming.”

Outlook on the talk: „What is actually true about the conflict between science and faith? On my journey through these two worlds, I not only came across surprising parallels, I discovered them: Only with both can we better understand our world, find our place in it and deal with it better. “

About the person: “Since I was a child, I have loved sciences, but I have later realigned my studies and switched from math, physics and chemistry to theology. Now I am founding a new church parish – the Elbkirche Magdeburg – and stand in contact with many people who believe and do not believe. I often hear from both sides that faith and science are in conflict. Therefore, I ask myself and Magdeburg this question: Do we have to decide? “

Max Schmietendorf

28 years, Why-Finder, Coach, Trainer

Outlook on the talk: „Almost everyone talks about the one ingredient you need for success, but nobody knows exactly what it is: WHY. In this TED talk you learn what the WHY really is. You learn how a real WHY is discovered and how you can use it to excite people for you and your company. And you learn how to recognize whether you and your company have found their real WHY or not.“

About the person: „I believe that there is a tremendous potential in every person and every organization that is just waiting to be unfold. More and more realize how important the WHY is for the development of this potential, but very few know what the WHY really is and how to actually discover it. In my daily work as a Why-Finder I show organizations how they can carry people away with their WHY and clear up misconceptions about the WHY. “

Raul Llamas Kirchhoff

28 years, student, cultural engineer, artist, promoter

Outlook on the talk: “Current surveys show that schoolchildren are already striving to be “cool”. Coolness thus sets the premise which car and beverage manufacturers, fashion companies, musicians and also children and young people claim for themselves. With deep insights into the festival and club culture I would like to explain how and why these forces affect us and – more importantly – how we can ultimately use these forces to coolly charge (humanistic) values and thus positively change the society around us.

About the person: „I am a cultural engineer, student with Latin American roots and former dance club operator. Founder of the art, politics and events collective Lotenheim and one of the minds behind Festival Nomade, a cultural and music festival that travels through Latin America and Europe. With my work and other projects, I am always on a journey through different contexts and worlds which allows me to gain many experiences and insights into realities of life. The cultural creation as well as the influence of music and event culture is a constant red thread. “

Eilika Princess of Anhalt

33 years, social entrepreneur

Outlook on the talk: „Can a fair education system change a society and reduce the social gap? How does the transformation of educational institutions into future-oriented learning centres look like, in which the focus lies always on humanity and community but also benefits the economy? How can everyone do their part? “

About the person: „I am human, woman, daughter, mother, entrepreneur and translator between politics and the “new world”. I am a social lobbyist for the public education sector. In 2017, I therefore founded the Bureau Anhalt, an organization that develops building blocks for an educational evolution with partners from the social sector, politics and business.“

Michael Deck

Michael Deck

57 years old, entrepreneur and lecturer

Outlook on the talk: „I will tell you about how an entrepreneur took me under his wing during my studies, from which I am still profiting today. Today I know that this was a selfless investment in my development, especially since the entrepreneur didn’t demand anything for his and time and training. This experience had such a lasting impact on me that I live the principle every day, both for my personal development and in my company, and pass it on to my employees.”

About the person: „I am an entrepreneur from Groß Ammensleben (Börde) near Magdeburg. There I have created a place of “life education” that combines “living”, “working” and “education”. A company has a reason for existence, a basis for existence, a deeper meaning and purpose. A person has a purpose in life, a reason to live, to work, a reason to get up every morning. The challenge is to find the common meaning that unites.”

Hanna Lutz

31 years, founder and managing director of the engagement platform vostel.de

Outlook on the talk: „In my talk I would like to share my experience of how self-confidence, “the right sense” and a healthy dose of resistance to rational predictions and much preached founding dogmas became my signposts for starting a successful and innovative business.”

About the person: „I am Hanna, a social entrepreneur and what has recently become known as a “Gutmensch”. I don’t think much of Pro & Contra lists and other rational decision making methods. Privately and as co-director of my company, I make most decisions from the gut.”

„The Landeszentrale für politische Bildung Sachsen-Anhalt is looking permantly for new formats, that have the potential to get people interested in sociopolitical activities. How does our society work? What keeps our democracy alive? And how do we care for the people beeing able to identify with this democracy. TED as an internationally established format to transport knowledge appears to us suitable for this purpose. We support TEDx as an educational event, because we believe, that in this way many people can be reached with interesting, sociopolitically relevant topics.

“The Ottostadt Magdeburg is an innovative business and science hub. For many years, the state capital has been supporting projects and initiatives that promote the city. An important concern of economic development is to support founders and encourage them to realize their innovative ideas and creative visions in Magdeburg. Therefore, the Gründerstadt Magdeburg network was founded in 2017. A creative start-up scene and a versatile, lively city thrive on lateral thinkers who are eager to implement new ideas, carry them out into the world and look toward the future. We support TEDx as a partner because we want to stimulate the creative spirit of development and promote the exchange between creators and audience.”
